REACT sharing its insights with other EC-funded projects in the domain of circular economy

roberto vannucci presenting react

On July 1st, 2021, Project Coordinator Roberto Vannucci (CENTROCOT) took part to the “Recycling of plastics. Towards a more sustainable plastic treatment in 2030”, joining online representatives of projects NONTOXPLAST2bCLEANEDCREAToR, CIRCULAR FLOORING (which also served as the event’s organizer), and speaking about REACT’s plan and recent developments.

While these projects’ focus is mainly on plastics recycling (at several levels), they share similar objectives with REACT: from the aim to remove finishing to the treatment of hazardous waste materials, all for a greener evolution in the recycling process in Europe.

Vannucci stated once again REACT’s key objective to reduce acrylic waste to 30%, re-using acrylic textile waste as raw material for other production cycles, thus reducing the amount destined to incineration and landfills and simultaneously enhancing circular economy. As Vannucci confirmed, the project already reached a 95% removal rate of hazardous chemicals from the textile waste, and is currently working on a sustainable treatment of the waste water resulting from this removal process.

The webinar concluded with a Q&A session that offered a chance of dialogue between the involved and the participants.
